Trans-Siberian, an unexpected journey

I had dreamt of this journey forever, get on the train that for some days would have been my home, a new world in motion.

Arrived at Moscow train station, you look that huge iron train that is waiting for you stationary on the railroad tracks, motionless it opens its doors and allows you for a short period to live it, to be inside it.
I climb the first iron steps of my carriage and the people who had already started their journey look at me with suspicion and I as a guest try to behave with respect.
I find my bed and I settle my bags in my small space, in this journey I have to get used to share everything: the table, the passage to climb above the bed, the only bath in the carriage.
Before the leaving I didn't talk to anyone, In this carriage I am with some travelers but no one has yet presented himself to the others, comes the time to start and the train weels start to move slowly with light creaks.
The first hour is all completely new and looking out the window I appreciate a landscape never seen before, the birches are the frame of this wonderful landscape and I figure out that the core of the journey isn't outside or in inner Siberia, but in the small community that has been created randomly in the train.
I take my face off the window and I realize that the other passengers were courios about me, my bed neighbor opens a box of cookies and, without saying any word,  offers them to me. I felt a strange feeling that was involving me in a new experience with some people never seen before.
While the train is going forward, the people start to act, who makes the bed, who settle their luggage and who starts to eat, in front of me a Russian military looks for something in his sack, the girl in the upper bed starts to read her Cyrillic book, I see that everyone is on the Trans-Siberian for different purposes, but the direction is the same for everybody.
I didn't understand anything about the journey, in the previous months I thought to visit in small steps the Siberia and discover its places and different traditions, and to get off the train sometimes to savor the small Siberian towns, but the journey I had organised was transformed in something completely different.
It's hard to remember what flows quickly outside the train window, but it's unforgettable what I experienced, the incomprehensible chat with Russian people, the children's smile while they play in the aisle, the thoughtful old people and the military who get on and off at each train stop.
I spent intense hours with every person who got on my carriage, sometimes without understanding a word of what was being told to me.
The Trans-Siberian isn't only a means of transport to reach a place, but a world a part ready to get every emtion of its passengers.
